Every dog in our office goes bonkers over these all-natural chews, made from calcified elk antlers. When we first heard about Wapiti Labs, we were intrigued about what makes these chews so different than anything else out there. Here’s their story:
Wapiti Labs keeps a herd of 230+ elk on a 160-acre former dairy farm in Sturgeon Lake, MN. There, the elk live a natural, stress-free lifestyle, with as little human interaction as possible. Each year, older males grow very long, majestic antlers that drop off naturally in the late winter.
Once the antlers fall off, they’re hung outside to dry for a week. Afterwards, they are brought into a cleaning facility where they’re pressure washed with hot water – no chemicals or bleaches. Then they go back outside to dry in the sun. That’s it.
When they’re completely dry, they’re cut into 4” and 8” sections and sanded down so they’re smooth and safe for dogs to chew on. Some are also split in half, exposing the marrow, which is really good for dogs’ gum lines and teeth. And because these antlers are calcified, they are also high in calcium, a valuable nutrient.
Dogs instinctively go for these chews because they know they’re good for them. We instinctively went for these chews because of the natural, ethical techniques used to create them. Believe us, once you try Wapiti, you won’t ever go back to a plain pet store bone again.
